Living Cultural Treasure

The origins of our institution trace back to 1971 when Grand Master Jae H. Kim relocated to Boston to pursue studies at MIT. Commencing his Taekwon-do classes at local universities, Mr. Kim’s unique teaching style quickly drew attention, filling his classes with enthusiastic students. Recognizing the value of Mr. Kim’s approach, which melded an analytical perspective from his academic studies at Western universities with expertise from Taekwon-do masters in the East, students from all over the Boston area sought to join.

2017 Top Ranked Kukkiwon Do-Jang

As the demand for Mr. Kim’s Taekwon-do classes outgrew university capacities, and with encouragement from General Choi to establish an exemplary Taekwon-do school in Boston, Mr. Kim decided to create his own institution. Thus, on July 15, 1974, the Jae Hun Kim Taekwon-do Institute was founded on Brookline Avenue in Boston. Flourishing in that location ever since, the institute has attracted enthusiasts of all ages and backgrounds from around the world. Presently, the institute operates 40+ schools across the U.S., Singapore, South Korea, Ireland, China, Malaysia, Indonesia, and The Philippines.

Established in 1993, Jae H Kim Taekwon-do Cambridge holds a distinctive position as the second oldest branch within our esteemed network. Over the years, this branch has evolved into a cornerstone of martial arts excellence in the Cambridge community. Under the adept leadership of our head instructor, Jae Hwang, the Cambridge branch continues to exemplify the principles and traditions set forth by our founder, Grand Master Jae H. Kim. Master Jae Hwang, with a wealth of experience, skillfully guides students through the intricacies of Taekwon-do, fostering a dynamic learning environment. The Cambridge branch, as the second oldest in our lineage, not only symbolizes the enduring legacy of our school but also reflects the commitment to providing exceptional martial arts education to individuals of all ages in the local community.
